Delhi, capital city of the Federal Republic of India. It is one of India's fastest growing cities. It has sprawled over the West Bank of the river Yamuna straddling the river. The city has two distinct parts, Old Delhi & New Delhi. Old Delhi is centered on the Red Fort built by Emperor Shah Jahan between 1636 & 1658.

The streets of Old Delhi are narrow & bustling. The beauty & serenity lies inside the courts of the main buildings. Delhi has some of the finest museums in the country. Its boutiques & shopping arcades offer access to a wealth of traditional & contemporary crafts from all over the country. New Delhi was proclaimed the capital of India by the British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens (1869-1944) & is tree-lined & spacious.

While describing Rajasthan, the word 'colorful' is probably the most appropriate adjective. The word applies both literally & figuratively, as the desert terrain is alive with colors & one wonders how humans have outdone the contribution of nature in making Rajasthan so colorful. Be it men or women, the dressing pattern and choice of colors outshine even the color of the rainbow. Men, with their upturned mustaches, sport attractive turbans in orange, pink, yellow, etc. & animals here are adorned with colorful ornaments, their faces being painted in complex patterns and designs. This amazing pattern of colors is seen in the beautiful & magnificent forts & palaces as well.

They call it "Little Tibet", not just because of its geographical proximity to Tibet, but also because it plays host to several Tibetan cultural festivals. Leh Ladakh might be India's most remote region, but its beauty is incomparable. Stark mountains dotted with Colourful Monasteries, Fluttering Prayer Flags, Rocky Ridges, Dry Plains and Tiny Settlements & Adding to its beauty is the Indus River that seems to have a different shade for every season. During summer it turns Grayish, owing to its silt deposits, occasionally turning a shade of violet. Autumn turns it the most beautiful - shades of Aquamarine waters flowing through Orange-Flamed Poplars and Weeping Willows.

More than sheer tourism, the years have witnessed Leh Ladakh emerging as a highly acclaimed Adventure ground. From options of high-altitude scenic treks to wild river rafting in the Indus and Zanskar River, the last Shangri La's remoteness is what creates the magic that drives tourists here.
